Pooja

Aksharabhyasam Pooja

Aksharabhyasam is a Sanskrit word meaning initiation of education to a child by his parents and guru on a select auspicious day. ‘Practice reading and writing letter’. ‘Akshara’ means letters ‘Abhyasa’ means practice. The date for Aksharabhyasam varies according to the region. 

Baby writes for the first time. This pooja is usually performed on 2nd or 3rd year on any auspicious day and the Mantras are chanted for the welfare of the baby

Graha Pravesha Pooja

Graha Pravesha is the set of rituals performed before one starts to live in a new house. On completion of this pooja, the new house gets energised with Vedic mantras and  fills with positivity for a peaceful living. This pooja is performed before moving into a house. It is the process of removing any negative energy before occupying the house

Upanayanam

Upanayanam is also called ‘Thread Ceremony’. Father, advice his son for ‘Brahmacharya’. As a significance child has to wear a sacred thread called ‘Yagnopavita’, Father whispers secretly a mantra in his boy’s ear. Upanayanam Ceremony is also called as the White thread (Poonal Kalyanam) ceremony

  

Sashtiapthapoorthi (60th Birthday Pooja)

Sashtiapthapoorthi is the marriage ceremony performed for the couple where the husband has completed 60 years of age. Sashtiapthapoorthi means “Completion of 60”

Sathabhishekam (80th Birthday Pooja)

Sathabhishekam is the set of Poojas and rituals that are 
performed for the couple when the husband completes the 80th year
